How does the category lookup tool work?
Securly Filter includes a category lookup tool that assists admins in identifying the category of any website. This tool is conveniently located next to the Allow/Block lists, enabling admins to look up a website before deciding whether to add it to either list. In some cases, websites may already be categorized as blocked, which negates the need to add them to the block list separately.
To check the category of a website, follow these steps:
1. Log in to Securly Filter.
2. Navigate to Policy Editor and click on any of the existing policies.
3. Click Allow/Block.
4. Click ‘Category Lookup’.
5. Enter the website you want to look up and click ‘Search’. Note that you must enter a valid domain name; keywords and wildcards are not supported by the tool.
If you do not agree with the category returned by the search, you can request recategorization by clicking the ‘Request category change’ button.
6. To assist our team in understanding your recategorization request, select the category that you believe fits the website best and provide any additional comments if necessary.
Once your request is received, our team will analyze it and take the necessary steps.
Note that you cannot request recategorization of websites such as google.com or any others that impact basic browsing for the user or any system-critical functions.
