How to Minimize Upload Failures for Parent CSV Files
Securly’s web filtering solution relies on CSV files provided by schools to establish accurate student-parent relationships and send student activity reports to parents. To ensure that reports are delivered to the correct parent inbox, it is crucial that schools adhere to the guidelines outlined here when uploading their CSV files.
Tips
- The name of the CSV file should be parents.csv.
- A header line specifying each column name is essential.
- The header line must include: Parent First Name, Parent Last Name, Parent Email, Student First Name, Student Last Name, Student Email.
- Column names are not case sensitive.
- The student email must belong to your school domain or sub-domain. Other email addresses will be rejected during file upload.
- Student email ID or parent email ID cannot be the same as admin email ID.
- Student email ID and guardian/parent email ID cannot be the same.
- Ensure that you do not include any special characters ( ", (), *, ><, /) in either the Parent First Name, Parent Last Name, Student First Name, or Student Last Name columns.
- Column names may be in any order.
- More than one parent email or more than one student email on one line are not allowed. Each line of the CSV should establish a 1:1 mapping between student and parent.
- If the CSV file contains more than 70,000 lines, you might experience upload failure.
