Understanding the Temporary Ban Feature
The Temporary Ban feature is designed to be used very *sparingly. It is intended to temporarily restrict a user from accessing the internet for 10 minutes if they visit 10 blocked sites within a 10-minute timeframe. This feature is recommended to be used cautiously because certain blocked categories can lead to unintended bans. For example, if you have "Social Networking" blocked and a user visits a page containing a Facebook Like, Facebook Share, or Twitter retweet button, each of these actions counts as a separate call to the blocked categories. Consequently, visiting just four pages within 10 minutes could result in a ban.
*We strongly recommend against using temporary bans in policies where the following categories are blocked:
- Web Ads
- Uncategorized
