How to Lock Students into a Google Classroom or Canvas Assignment with Site Lock
To lock students into a specific website or assignment that includes links to other sites, utilize the Site Lock feature. Follow these steps:
- Navigate to the Web Links menu and click on Add Collection.
- Provide a title for your collection, then click the Add button in the right panel to begin adding sites.
- Add your Google Classroom or Canvas Assignment as a new site, along with any additional sites necessary for the assignment, either by entering new URLs or selecting from existing web links.
- During your class session, click the Site Lock button. To apply Site Lock to the entire class, do this without selecting any students. To apply Site Lock to specific students, select them by checking the boxes in the upper left corner of their student cards before clicking the Site Lock button.
- The Site Lock sidebar will appear. From here, select the collection you created in the previous steps.
Keep in mind that this feature will restrict students from navigating to other sites while the class session is active. If there are resources that should always be accessible, administrators can add these URLs in the Allowed URLs section within Settings. These sites will remain accessible during class sessions, even when Site Lock is enabled.
