How to Request a Live Category Update from PageScan
Securly Filter includes a unique feature that allows admins to send websites that are uncategorized by Securly (at the time of browsing) to PageScan for categorization. To enable this feature, please contact our Support team at support@securly.com.
This feature is designed to assist schools in blocking access to uncategorized sites while allowing end-users to request automatic categorization without needing to involve the Filter admin. Any site that does not match our current categories and is otherwise deemed safe will be added to our General category, making it accessible.
Once the feature is enabled for your account, you can toggle the 'Request categorization using PageScan' option on the Global Settings page to get started.
Student View
With this feature, end-users will see a 'Request access' button for sites that would typically be blocked due to being uncategorized.
If the requested website is not categorized into any of our blocked categories by PageScan, it will become accessible to the user upon their next visit after some time. If the site is deemed unsafe, it will continue to be blocked according to its category.
Admin/Staff View
In the Filter admin user interface, the Category Lookup tool also allows for the automatic categorization of submitted sites.
The system will update the page with the new categorization once PageScan has processed the request.
